Petalos del Bierzo D.O. Bierzo
- Awarded 93-94 Parker points by the US publication The Wine Advocate
Bierzo is one of the Spanish's most exciting wine regions. It is part of the province of Léon, a region that has been revolutionised, almost single-handedly by the winemaker Alvaro Palacios, who utilises old vines to fashion some exquisite reds.
The wine is made from vines aged between 40 - 90 years old grown on schist soils on perilously steep vineyards.
Pétalos del Bierzo displays beautiful aromatics of black fruits, spices, tobacco leaf and incense. On the palate it is juicy, silky and full of wild berry notes.
