Mar de Frades D.O. Rías Baixas
- Vegan
Mar de Frades, the Spanish winery, was established in 1987, to bring out the best of the premium white-wine making potential of the Salnes Valley. This is the place where the famous white varietal of Albarino is cultivated. Some of Spain’s most sophisticated and historic wines are produced using this grape.
Mar de Frades Albariño is a wine that engulfs you with its freshness and body, balancing delicate grace with attractive volume. Mango, pineapple and lychees on the nose together with wild flowers and notes of eucalyptus. Bright, fresh and vivacious on the palate, the tropical fruit flavours are lifted by a streak of Atlantic-coast salinity.
THE MAKING PROCESS
The clusters of Albariño from the Val do Salnés are meticulously hand-harvested into crates, bringing them straight from the vineyard to the bodega. Once in the bodega, the clusters are classified manually on our selection tables, and the best grapes are selected for processing.
Maceration of the grapes is carried out using the Ganimede method to extract all of its aromatic potential. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, in contact with the lees to give the wine longevity and volume.
